MADEWORN X CARHARTT

Working in collaboration with the iconic Carhartt brand, Halvorson was asked to a recreate their storied archives, dreaming up a line of clothing that would eloquently express their fascinating brand story.

One of the oldest American clothing brands Halvorson was granted unprecedented access to the Carhartt archives, accessing product that dated as far back as 1889.  Through a number of innovate processes, such as smoking clothes over open coals to remove moisture from the fabric, replicating the coloring and brittleness of age, Halvorson meticulously recreating over 300 pieces dating from the brand’s origins to present day.

The resulting collaboration was featured the Carhartt brand’s national print and commercial campaign, Halvorson’s work exploring each distinctive era of the brand’s long history, from the clothes worn during the building on the original railroad lines, to the battered work clothes worn in the munitions factories of WW1 to the durable pieces sported by the hardy steel workers that built the epic New York City skyline of the 1930s.

 

Through this intensive, immersive collaboration, Halvorson was able to eloquently explore the historical narrative of this legendary American-made brand.
